Scholarship Systems

The Waseda Business School has a broad program of in-house College Scholarships such as Okuma Memorial Scholarship, Azusa Ono Memorial Scholarship, Scholarship for PhD Students, scholarships based on endowment (awarded to Japanese students), and Graduate School of Commerce Scholarship. In addition, there are various kinds of scholarships sponsored by organizations outside of the university such as scholarships by the Japan Student Services Organization(awarded to Japanese students), scholarships by private foundations, and the Tuition Assistance Program (covering 50%, 40% or 20% of the tuition; awarded to international students). These scholarships provide financial aid to assist student life. Listed below are scholarships granted to students at Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies.

Application for scholarships is, in principle, to be made after matriculation at Waseda Business School. However, application for some scholarships can be made prior to matriculation. Below is a list of some such scholarships.

Graduate school recipients of Category 1 loans by the Japan Student Services Organization, whom JASSO recognizes as having achieved particulary outstanding results during their studies, may be exempted from repayment of a portion of the loan or the entire loan when the loan period is finished. Academic year 2005, 30% of recipients of Category 1 loan had granted favor of this program.

"Japanese students" include students with foreign nationalities who presently reside in Japan and whose visas' eligibility is that of a permanent resident or a dependent of a permanent resident. For further details, call Financial Aid Section, Student Affairs Division at +81-3-3203-9701.
