Basically, since the School of Commerce of Waseda is a partner faculty of my home university WHU in Germany and also for the reason that I was choosing Japanese at university I was glad to have the opportunity to become an exchange student for one semester. I think that this opportunity to study abroad for both Japanese students and for German students is a great chance to broaden one’s horizons and to gain international experience, which is essential nowadays especially for students of Business Administration. Furthermore the good reputation that Waseda University as such has will make it very worthwhile for international students who are interested in the Japanese business environment.
I very much appreciate the broad range of subjects to be chosen from and the manifold opportunities to foster one’s team work skills by means of for example doing case studies in many subjects. All students and faculty members I have met so far were very willing to help and gain further insights into different business aspects what makes studying within this group of highly motivated people a unique experience for me. Incidentally, the facilities of the School of Commerce are new and very attractive making it a nice place to study and communicate with others. In a nutshell, I just believe that this is a great place to study, select courses which match ones interests and last but not least to learn about the Japanese economy.
I intend to further build up on my knowledge and experience I have gained from the School of Commerce and my home university by doing a master after graduation.

The decision of choosing the Waseda University and the School of Commerce was already made long time ago. I have been studying Japanese since the 2nd grade of High School. When there was the time for me to enter the university, the possibility of becoming an exchange student of Waseda University was one of criteria of choosing the German university I am matriculated in right now. I have already heard great track records from formal Waseda exchange student that one will definitely undergo one of the best exchange semesters ever. Not only that one is able to learn a lot about economics and business from a completely different perspective, one can also take part in many other activities, such as further improving your Japanese, joining open classes from completely different majors, or participating in school extra curriculums. This way, international students both can achieve their academic goals and can experience the way of life of a real "Japanese Waseda student". Therefore, I am really glad of having chosen Waseda which has even exceeded my expectation at far.
I knew Waseda is a great university as it aims to uphold the independence of learning, and to promote the practical utilization of knowledge and good citizenship. Especially the School of Commerce which I chose due to my major in business administration offers a variety of interesting and high level classes across in many different fields. Each course does not make the student learning something only for the exams but helps student to acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge for their professional lives in the future. Moreover, after taking a shot at wide range of classes one is able to find his or her own field of interests as well as going further to deeper specialization. Thanks to the international center I am also able to join many great Japanese classes to further enhancing my Japanese at a much faster rate than anywhere else. Additionally, the school provide good assistant before, during and also after the exchange program, preparing a comfortable working atmosphere for all international students.
In the upcoming semester I want to specialize myself into Finance and Supply Chain Management. Due to some internship experience I have done in the past, I find these two fields of business extremely interesting and would like to focus on them in the remaining semesters. However, for the future career, I would like to try out other business areas before deciding myself on applying for a certain position. Until so far, I have got insight into some production companies, as well as supply chain company. Later, I would also like to make internships in professional services such as the banking or the consulting industries Generally, I would like to enter an international trading company in Germany or USA for the first. The plan is to get two or three years of working experiences and then to take a master in one of the more famous Business Schools. After having graduated, I would still love to work in an international Company in China, Japan or South Korea. Even though as an Asian I have grown up in Germany, I still feel that South Asia is my real home and the only place to return to.

I love the lively atmosphere and diversity unique to Waseda University’s School of Commerce. The students at this school come from many different backgrounds and possess individual viewpoints and opinions even though they are studying the same subjects. We can learn not only from our teachers, but also from our classmates. In addition, the School of Commerce provides a wide variety of study fields. Third grade students of the School of Commerce can select one of four courses (Economics & Industry, Commerce, Trade & Finance, Management, and Accounting), but they can also attend classes in other fields. This system allows us to acquire knowledge in many related areas, and with it a broader perspective and increased competitiveness.
I have the highest opinion of the School of Commerce support system and the way it respects each student’s wishes and decisions to the fullest extent possible. Students are encouraged to make decisions for themselves and act from a strong sense of duty. Thanks to this support system, I was able to study at Beijing University. I benefited greatly from these unique experiences and they improved my competitiveness.
After graduating from university next year, I intend to enroll in the MBA program of Waseda University to learn management skills and international strategies. In the future I want to join a transnational corporation and work as an international manager.
