On November 15, the Waseda University Soccer Club finished 1st place in the 89th Kanto Intercollegiate Tournament. This was the Club’s first 1st place finish since their victory in the 1996 tournament 19 years ago.
The first half of the final match against Hosei University ended with neither team able to score a goal. However, Waseda broke through in the second half and scored two goals. Waseda started this season at the bottom of the league but displayed courage and perseverance as they rose to the top. The team still has work ahead of them as they prepare for the National Intercollegiate Championships in December.
To commemorate the 50th year anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic ties between Japan and Korea, the Waseda Soccer Club will participate in the Japan-Korea Four University Soccer Tournament on November 29. The match begins at 13:00 and will be held at Ajinomoto Field Nishigaoka. Admission is free of charge.
