In the Basic French H course, Professor Ikuhiro Fukuda focuses on teaching French through listening and practical conversion exercises. The course not only focuses on grammar, but also on practical communication methods. Running at a smooth pace, each course unit covers a specific topic which you are later tested on. You won’t be left behind not understanding material from previous units.
One appealing aspect of the course is that at the start of each lesson Professor Fukuda discusses various aspects of France based on his experiences. Examples including dining habits such as dinnertime starting around 8pm, later than Japan, and long meals are interesting and informative. I think it is extremely important and meaningful to learn about the culture and background of a country before learning its language.
I chose to study French because I really like France. I sometimes struggle with French pronunciation but am able to improve thanks to Professor Fukuda’s teaching style geared towards Japanese learners. I have learned that listening to and using the language is the most important aspect of language learning.
I will continue to do my best studying French so that when I eventually go to France I can utilize the language I have learned.
