Share memories over a curry meal for two (Nininmae-curry)

Mr. Yusuke Nishiuchi (School of Law, 4th year), Ms. Izumi Ikeda (School of Education, 3rd year), Ms. Aiko Sasamoto (School of Commerce, 4th year), and Ms. Nanako Nakaya (School of Education, 3rd year), who work for the nonprofit organization "Table for Two International" (TFT), spoke to us about the TFT's curry meal for two, which is so delicious that it's sure to satisfy anyone.

This curry meal for two (Nininmae-curry) features rich and full-bodied curry poured over a helping of multigrain rice. The curry contains more than just meat ? it's also loaded with four different varieties of beans, including edamame (soybeans). The beans are cooked until tender and perfectly compliment the curry. The meal is filling and provides just the right amount of spiciness. "We've been making and perfecting this curry along with the Co-op since May," said Ms. Izumi. Everyone had rallied together in order to get the Waseda Co-op to introduce the curry. Mr. Nishiuchi was the one who performed all the coordination between the Co-op and the students. "The first challenge was to get them to understand the content of our TFT activities," he said. They held talks with the Co-op again and again, said Ms. Ikeda, adding that "Ever since the experimental stage, we'd been worrying about what our menu should be." They wanted something both healthy and delicious. Furthermore, they wanted something that they could turn into a staple dish. Their proposal even included information about the colleges that had already adopted the TFT menu. They managed to reach the point where they could finally taste their final product. The instant they took the first bite, all four cried out "amazing!" in chorus. Smiles spread across their faces without them even knowing it.

However, they had more than just the menu itself to worry about. They also had to put energy into advertising in order to make sure a wide base of people knew about it. Ms. Sasamoto and Ms. Nakaya explained this, saying, "We made a video to show at POP and the Co-op. But there were also things that we could not do by ourselves, and so we ended up asking help from a lot of people. We also created the catchphrase 'a curry meal for two.'" One of the "two" refers to the students, and the second refers to the children in Africa. This curry meal for two is a dish laden with such passionate thoughts.
