“Can I work in the society as a full-fledged employee…?” This was the anxiety I had when my university entrance examination finished. The reason is my hearing problem from birth. I even had difficulty understanding university lectures without support by volunteers who take notes for students with hearing disabilities. I wondered “what kind of person would I be attracted to” if I had been a president of a company. My answer was “a specialist,” which meant that I should get some qualifications. The next step was to choose the qualification I would get. Because I would bet my student life on it, I had already decided to try a difficult one. In addition, I had always like newspapers and had been attracted to the world of business since I was little. And I wanted to earn my own living as soon as possible. A man should not live off his parents forever. Therefore, I decided to try to pass the exam to become a certified public accountant (CPA), simultaneously one of the most difficult examinations and also one that can be passed within a short term. It was daring to spend my student life on an examination that I did not know I could pass or not. However, I was excited by imagining myself in the future. All that remained was to change the fantasy into a reality. Study days were hard but fulfilling. I passed long days without hesitation for two and half years. In November of the fourth year, I raised a shout of victory in front of the Ministry of Finance. What made me happy more than anything was that people who had supported me looked really glad about it. “Choosing a career” was my “first step” for going out into the world, and I simply chose an exciting field because I thought that it would be the best one for helping me grow up. Now my fantasy has become a reality, and I am working at an audit corporation. Certified Public Accounting as a career involves wide fields and many possibilities. A CPA can be active not only in auditing but also in other business world such as consulting corporations and brokerage firms. I will have a chance to choose my career again In the near future. And, I am enjoying a fantasy today. |
