From the days of having been one of the most recognized child stars, the child descends into days of being addicted to drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana, and snorting cocaine. People often hear this type of story. The actress Drew Barrymore was a prime example of these sad stories. In addition, she got into trouble with her family. Her off-screen life was so self-destructive that she attempted suicide at the age of fourteen.
In 1995, however, Drew set up her own production company, Flower Films, with a friend of hers. Its first film was Never Been Kissed, which came out in 1999. The plot is that of a 25-year-old copyeditor at a major newspaper who, desperately wanting to be a reporter, tries to go undercover at a high school to write her first reporter’s assignment and starts her life at high school where she had actually been a geeky misfit all over again. This was the first film that Drew produced and starred in. Therefore it must be true that she developed special feelings for her past in this picture, whose theme was that of having a second chance.
And then in 2005, she starred in a love comedy, Fever Pitch, in which she falls in love with a Boston Red Sox freak. She portrays a workaholic career woman. In this film, Drew's character was able to start a family again, which she had once lost in her real life. And she also broke the famous “Curse of the Bambino” in the movie, something that had long haunted the world of Major League Baseball. The Curse of the Bambino was a superstition that began when the Boston Red Sox baseball team could not win the World Series for 86 years between 1918 and 2004. The name Bambino comes from famous baseball player Babe Ruth, who was sold to the New York Yankees by the Boston Red Sox in 1920. But after Drew's movie was released, the Boston Red Sox finally won the World Series.
In a film in 2007, Music and Lyrics, she appeared as a worker who came to the house of the male protagonist to water his plants. Having given up “creative writing” once in the past, she decided to write lyrics again for him: he had once been a vocalist in a former popular pop band. In the end she brought a second chance not only to herself, but also to him as a result of their ‘collaboration.’
And the film My Date with Drew is a documentary about an ordinary guy who decided to try to fulfill his life-long dream of asking her out on a date. The man struggles to realize his long-cherished desire by using the whole of his network of personal connections from the past to the present. It pictures all of the desperate efforts of this ‘27-year-old single bloke’ who pursues the fulfillment of his dream as genuine Drewmania. Can he go out with the Drew Barrymore of his dream, just as he hoped?
Let’s follow him, imagining Drew, who actually brought luck in Lucky You, and picturing her figure from behind, as she sits astride a motorcycle in her Chinese dress and leaves briskly for her future.
