As everyone's interests are drawn to Korea lately with the success of 2002 World Cup Football Championship and the popular TV drama "The Winter Sonata", a game is set to be played between our Waseda rugby team and Korea (高麗) University rugby team for the first time. From now on, the game will be held every other year in both countries.

Korea University, regarded as the "Waseda of Korea" from its rugged- nature, is one of Waseda’s exchange colleges and universities, with one of the most formidable rugby teams among the universities in Korea. All eyes will be focused on how our team will perform in the game, adding new team members from this spring. Waseda has lost to Korea in the past two games. Thus, expectations are all the more high for Waseda's first victory against Korea in the memorable initial match.

On the day of the game, various events to promote a more friendly relationship between Japan and Korea are planned, including a kids' rugby workshop which kids from both countries can join, a Korean dance stage, Korean product exhibitions, Korean food booths and many more. Also, if you present a ticket for the Waseda-Keio baseball game taking place at the neighboring Jingu stadium on the same day, you can get discount tickets! The 1st Waseda-Korea Rugby Match

Date: 29 May (Saturday)
Time: 4pm kickoff with an opening ceremony from 3:30pm (admission starts at 12 noon)
Place: Chichibunomiya rugby field
Admission: Adults- 1,500yen Students- 1,000yen (advance ticket- 800yen) Children under the age of middle school- free
Tickets are currently on sale at nearby ticket agencies and ‘Ticket Pia’ in the city area.
