Mr Noriya Kusumoto was awarded the first prize at the 56th intercollegiate essay contest concerning the publicity by Dentsu (a leading advertising firm in Japan).
A man of strong will. He said that "I would like to learn more." and many more words that showed his iron will. It appears that he has an unyielding nature. Last year as a group, his seminar applied for the same prize contest, but unfortunately his group was not successful. This year he tried again partly as revenge. He says, " Of course, I aimed at the first prize this time!" The subject of his essay is "the advertisement that makes people have deeper trust for a company". Mr Kusumoto has focused on the staff when he considers how a company advertisement should be. He says, "I regarded advertisements as a means of making the staff have higher motivation. If they have higher motivation, they will be able to give much better services to customers and the company will get better results. Then, the stock price will rise, and the company will pay a higher dividend to the shareholders." He is of opinion that it is the mutual confidence made by this process which will make the company's reputation, and it will revitalize the company. "An introductory remark is important in this kind of short writing (8000 words). I condensed what I really wanted to say after I examined many simple ideas from many different points of view." He has got this prize with the power of thought which he has acquired at the Professor Onzo's seminar. Marketing skill is useful in our daily lives. For instance, "I made use of it when I hoped that the tennis club members would accept me as a captain. I was glad to find younger students trust me." Looking back over his university days, Mr. Kusumoto felt that he could know himself better at Waseda. He has become more considerate of others because he met various people at the university. He decided to apply for a job at Mizuho financial group because he thought that advertisement should be of much use in any kinds of industries. He wishes to communicate with many people and to carry out a big business. During the interview he repeatedly said that he hoped to work to make people happy. With a new resolution Mr Kusumoto has made a next step. Copyright (C) Student Affairs Division, WASEDA University. 2004 All rights reserved.First drafted 2004 May 13. |
