Please help with the Survey of Student Life at Waseda, 2004.
Main Points of the Survey
When will the survey be taken?   It will start at 9 a.m. on 24 May, 2004 (Monday). It will finish at midnight on 13 June (Sunday).
Who will answer the questionnaires?   A random 10,000 students (including both undergraduates and postgraduates) have been selected.
How will the survey be taken?   By questionnaire using the Waseda-net portal. If you are chosen as a participant, you will be informed by Waseda-net e-mail.
What are the contents of the survey?   The survey consists of five sections (47 questions). You can start from whichever section you choose; but please remember that your answers will be invalid if you do not complete every section. Please do not skip any section. Please meet the deadline!

Publication of the survey  The University will publish the results of the survey as gThe 23rd Report of the Survey of Student Life at Waseda (2004)h. The results will also be announced on the University Web page.

What is the Survey of the Student Life at Waseda, 2004?

Every year the Student Service Division (Gakuseibu) have been taking a Survey so as to use the results for improving student life. This year sees the 23rd Survey. By the random sampling method 10,000 students will be chosen, and the results will be published this autumn. Since the Survey influences policy-making at the University, it is essential that as many questionnaires as possible are collected, for valid and accurate data. If you are chosen as a participant, and receive a request by Waseda-net e-mail, please do take part!

The Survey taken in 2003 has gained public favour since it is very readable and useful. You know the result of the survey on the University Web page(Japanese).

The FAQs about the Survey

How can I answer the questionnaire?

Please log on to the Waseda-net portal. Then you will see gAnswerh at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Click gAnswerh, and the questionnaire will appear on the screen. If you log on to the Waseda-net portal, and click gHow to answer the questionnaireh at the center of the screen, you will find a detailed guide of how to submit your replies.

The questionnaires in English and Japanese have been respectively divided by three parts on the screen. Please answer either English questionnaires or Japanese ones.  and Some answerers may find other questionnaires which are conducted by a faculty or a graduate school.

If you do not understand Japanese...

Donft worry! Overseas students who do not understand Japanese can answer in English. However, if you answer both the Japanese and the English questionnaires, only the answers in Japanese will be accepted.

I cannot see any questionnaire.

Your PC may not be suitable. Please look at the List of Browsers Suitable for the Questionnaires, which you will find on the Questionnaire menu and check the environment of your PC. If you use any of the PCs at the University, you can answer in English.

After I have answered all the question...

Please click ¢“o˜^£iRegisterj at the end of the questionnaire. Your answers will be saved. If you do not click ¢“o˜^£iRegisterj, your answers will not be saved.

Your first reward is having your opinion considered. In addition, 200 participants who click gI want a Kabuki ticketh, will get free tickets for a Kabuki play to be presented this autumn at the National Theater.

Is my privacy protected?

Data will be collected and analysed in such a way that you cannot be personally identified. Your privacy will be strictly protected. The collected data will be eliminated after the survey is finished.
