Student Life Manual |
Drinking at parties and other occasions is a way to add fun to the party and to get to know people. However, if you drink beyond the appropriate amount, you might get alcohol poisoning and there are even cases of student deaths. Such incidents even lead to court cases. If you are being pressured to binge drink or are the victim of alcohol harassment, do not hesitate to get help. It is also important that you check the amount of alcohol that is appropriate for a person of your height and weight, etc. The Student Health Insurance Association, located on the 1st floor of the Waseda University Student Center sponsors alcohol patch tests every spring. For further information, please visit the Association's website below.

With the exception of parties in specifically designated areas or other special occasions, drinking alcohol on campus is strictly prohibited. Each year students welcoming freshmen make a lot of noise around Toyama Park or, after the big Waseda-Keio baseball game, go to Koma Theater area in Shinjuku's Kabuki-cho and disturb the public peace. Please use your common sense and be responsible when drinking.
Only those who are 20 years old or older are allowed to drink alcohol in Japan.
