KATSUKATA-INAFUKU, Keiko 【Professor】
The support system has positive effects not only on the students, but on the teachers as well
Students these days, unlike those in my generation, seem to be leading very busy lives.
SILS students, preparing for moving and studying abroad, just can't avoid becoming even busier.
While spending quality time, they are also surely feeling a lot of pressure. The Academic Advisor
System was established to support students by creating an opportunity to communicate personally
with the teachers to alleviate their worries and anxieties in regards to their studies. This system
has been well received by the students, and is also stimulating for us teachers as well.
The interaction with the students has given us a chance to look at "education" in a new light
and given us an opportunity to motivate students in their pursuit of "education."

The Academic Advisor System-eliminating the distance between students and teachers
The good thing about SILS is that the Academic Advisor System shortens the distance
between students and teachers. This is true not only for teachers functioning as academic
advisors; the climate is such that students can talk to all the teachers with ease.
I got the chance to become friendly with Professor Katsukata-Inafuku through my classes,
and ask for her advice on a lot of matters. Through her advice, I was able to find a
study method that satisfied my curiosity, and allowed me to proactively take action and
choose subjects of interest as opposed to just going with the flow.
