Intelligent and adaptive systems using evolutionary
computation techniques have attracted increasing
attentions in recent years. They are more robust than
traditional systems based on formal logics for many real world
problems. They can adapt to an unknown environment without
explicitly modeling the environment. They can also be applied
to a wide range of practical problems.
This workshop aims at bringing together researchers
from Japan and Australia in the fields of intelligent
systems and evolutionary computation to exchange ideas,
present recent results and discuss possible
collaborations. Researchers from elsewhere interested in
collaboration with Japanese and Australian researchers are
also welcome. The workshop is the ninth in a series.
The previous
workshops in this series were as
follows: - The 1st workshop: in
Canberra, Australia, Nov. 21-22, 1997 -
The 2nd workshop: in Kyoto, Japan, Nov. 12-14,
1998 - The 3rd workshop: in Canberra,
Australia, Nov. 23-25, 1999 - The 4th
workshop: in Hayama, Japan, Oct. 31 - Nov. 2,
2000 - The 5th workshop: in Dunedin, New
Zealand, Nov. 19-21, 2001 - The 6th
workshop: in Canberra, Australia, Nov. 30 - Dec. 1st,
2002 - The 7th workshop: in Kitakyushu,
Japan, Nov. 21-22, 2003 - The 8th
workshop: in Cairns, Australia, Dec.
