Global Political Economy Course

The Global Political Economy Course was established in April 2008 as a joint course with the Graduate School of Political Science Master's Program. Its aim is to develop in students the ability to discuss and design appropriate policies from a prescriptive standpoint while analyzing and understanding the inseparable link between politics and economics from an international perspective. The course seeks to produce graduates with a truly global vision by providing students aspiring to become more internationally minded and to succeed in a range of fields in society with the opportunity to develop a higher level of expertise.

Joint Research Guidance System

Research guidance is provided jointly by multiple instructors from the two graduate schools. This is because there would be limitations to a research guidance system provided by a single instructor specializing in either politics or economics, considering the nature of the academic subjects involved. The foundation for realizing such a joint research guidance format across the two graduate schools is the shared recognition that although the academic fields of participants may differ, academic discussions can still take place on an equal footing. This recognition is grounded on experience from MEXT's 21st Century COE Program.
