ASMe Wconference room #121

Members of the Japan Society of Applied Physics who held a Micro-optics Group meeting at Ono Memorial Hall of Waseda University visited ASMeW to see its activities and its research facilities.

After the welcome address by Dr. Hirochika Nakajima, Director of Research Promotion Division, Prof. Tetsuya Osaka, Director of Executive Office of SMeW, presented ASMeW activities and various achievements of consolidated researches conducted at ASMeW under the flag of reorganization of the system of science'. After Prof. Osaka’s presentation, three recent research topics,” Analysis of nanostructures by using Raman imaging”, “Development of G-HAUP, a novel chiral optical measurement equipment” and “Construction of scientific evidence for developing exercise program to prevent lifestyle-related diseases” were presented by Prof. Masahiro Yanagisawa, Prof. Toru Asahi, Manager of ASMeW Executive Office, and Assoc. Prof. Yoshiki Sanada, respectively followed by active discussions with participation from the floor.
Assoc. Prof. Naonobu Shimamoto then gave an overview of SOL(Super Open Laboratory) which is the core research facility of ASMeW, as well as NTRC(Nano Technology Research Center). The visitors had a chance to take a laboratory tour through the facilities guided by Prof. Yukio Honda. ASMeW’s monthly meeting was also held on the same day. Visitors joined the reception with ASMeW members after the facility tour and spent social evening with active and fruitful information exchange.
