The Institute for Biomedical Engineering(BME) was established in July 2004 as one of the core elements of ASMeW. Not only interdisciplinary collaboration within our university but also the establishment of external partnerships is strongly promoted, so that the emergence of new fields can be expected to result from the synergistic effect of joint and consolidated research efforts. Currently, eight research domains have been selected with the aim of becoming a center for dissemination of information in respective research fields to the world.
The Super Open Laboratory(SOL) was founded in April 2005, which provides researchers with opportunities to acquire skills crucial for performing advanced research, such as nanometer scale fabrication skills, analytical measurement and evaluation skills, and biotechnology skills. The SOL also contributes to the implementation of the curriculum to train STOs.
