1. Importance of presenting your work (20 min)
● Presenting your work before publication
● Importance of feedback
● Presenting after publication to promote your work

2. Poster presentations (30 min)
● Benefits of presenting your research in a poster
● Logical flow of information in posters
● How to make professional-looking figures
● Poster layout and readability
● Poster presentation tips

Activity (15 min): attendees will be given poorly designed posters and have to
make suggestions on how to improve them

Q&A (5 min)

3. Oral presentations (20 min)
● Oral presentations vs. written articles
● Keeping your audience in mind
● Logical flow of information in slides Break (10 min)

4. Preparing slides (20 min)
● Effective slide layout and readability
● Clearly displaying your figures
● PowerPoint skills for making professional slides
● Using animation and graphics

Activity (15 min): groups will be given poorly designed slides and have to
make suggestions on how to improve them

5. Presentation skills (25 min)
● Practicing your presentation
● Verbal presentation tips
● Non-verbal presentation tips
● Additional tips

Ms. Ayli Chong
Editor and Project Coordinator Ayli has over 10 years combined experience in education and editing. She is also a popular presenter of Edanz seminars for researchers around Japan.
