Calling an Ambulance (Kyukyusha)

Emergency dialing from public phones

  1. Push the red emergency button or dial the emergency number (119)
  2. Tell the operator "Kyukyusha wo onegai shimasu." (Please send an
    anbulance.)
  3. Tell them your name, address or present location and any landmarks near the location. Speak clearly and give as many details as possible.If possible, tell them additional information such as your age, sex and the nature of the injury or problem.
    (e.g."Ashi wo orimashita". (I broke my leg)

Emergency Hospitals

On Sundays, on public holidays and at night, general hospitals are closed. At those times you can receive treatment for sudden illness or injury at an emergency hospital. However, because only a minimum number of doctors are on emergency duty, these hospitals only provide first aid treatment. Tokyo Metropolitan Government consultation service for foreigners

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government offers consultation and a counseling service for foreign people living in Tokyo. Their staff will give information and advice on problems. Principal contents of consultation:

  • Problems related to daily life or urgent inquiries
  • Matters related to Japanese customs, culture and social systems
  • Problems related to traffic accidents, such as insurance applications and compensation for damage.
  • Problems concerning your family and children

Ordinarily, consultation is carried out over the phone. However please visit in person if you feel it is necessary.
Consultation is completely free and confidentiality is strictly observed.
