Basic Principles of Academic Research Collaboration with External Bodies

On May 29, 1990, Waseda University established guidelines on academic research collaboration with external bodies, and the Review Committee for Academic Research Collaboration with External Bodies (hereinafter referred to as the “Guideline Committee”) began examining and evaluating academic research collaboration programs with external bodies, etc., for the acceptance of external funding.

We shall

1.        respect the freedom and independence of all studies,

2.        conduct research programs that contribute to world peace and the well-
being of our fellow man and not for military studies or development,

3.        strive to develop research activities and improve education at Waseda
University,

4.        not engage in confidential studies in which results are not disclosed
(the same shall not apply to reasonable restrictions on the announcement of
study results based on trust with
contract/joint researchers),

5.        be socially fair, and

6.        disclose related documents and make relevant decisions on academic
research collaboration democratically.
