The table below is a summary of the Implementation Standards for the Guidelines, which specify how provisions of Item 2, Article 2, of the Regulations concerning Approval for Academic Research Collaboration with External Bodies are to be met.

Advance screening by the Guideline Committee is not required for contracts amounting to less than JPY 10 million.

Chair Courses

Courses, lectures, seminars, and research guidance sessions based on contributions from individuals or corporate entities

for  the undergraduate schools, graduate schools, research institutes, and affiliated research and education center of Waseda University

Chair Research Projects

Study groups and research projects based on contributions from individuals or corporate entities for Waseda’s research Institute, affiliated research and education center, affiliated research institutes, Tsubouchi Memorial Theatre Museum, and Aizu Museum with no obligation to report research results to contributors

Contributions

Contributions to Waseda University and related organizations for the promotion of academic study/research

Advance screening by the Guideline Committee is required for specific contributions—those named after the contributors themselves—amounting to (1) JPY 10 million or more for individual contributors or (2) JPY 30 million or more for corporate contributors.

Subsidies

Subsidies from the national government, local governments, or nongovernmental organizations

No advance screening is required.

(1) None of the above shall apply to partnership schemes with external bodies that are not directly involved with academic research activities.

(2) If a new partnership other than those mentioned above is planned, please notify the Research Promotion Section promptly. The section will need to examine whether the newly planned partnership satisfies the above requirements in advance.
