Waseda University and University of Bonn have a long history of academic
exchange. We have been looking into feasibility of research collaboration
by researchers under the Super COE project 'Consolidated Research Institute
for Advanced Science and Medical Care'.
International Joint Symposium was successfully held in July to examine
possibility of research collaboration and promote research activities worldwide.
This symposium aimed to advance research collaboration and enhance research
outcome through working with excellent medical and engineering research
institutes; University of Bonn and RWTH Aachen.
We achieved significant results in not only research presentation by
a total of 15 researchers but also discussion toward future collaboration
and exchange program. In addition, Waseda University European Center in
Bonn as one of the overseas outposts, helped to coordinate the whole symposium
program.

Toward the future joint research
As a result of the joint symposium and meeting toward future collaboration,
ASMeW, Waseda University confirmed to host the
delegations from University of Bonn in November, 2006 as the second joint
symposium. We agreed in principle to launch faculty
exchange program and young researchers' exchange program between both research
institutes.
This program will help mainly young researchers take active parts overseas
and help them build diverse network. In the near
future, we expect to enhance research environment more.
