13Next-generation educational and research baseBuilding No.3 was designed as a next-generation educational research facility. Nevertheless, the new structure also proudly incorporates elements of the past: the original salt-glazed roof tiles that watched over the development of Waseda University for a long period of time and the symbolic lines of gingko trees that trace its outer walls. Building No. 3 integrates the memory of the previous building with a modern high-rise structure, which hosts classrooms equipped with the latest technologies and other facilities to implement new educational methods such as active learning. The resulting state-of-the-art educational and research environment fosters an interactive and project-based approach to the creation and transmission of knowledge in line with the values and goals of Waseda University.
