With such training, students be-come researchers and specialists that can transform Contemporary Japanese Studies into a universal commodity and who can spread such knowledge globally.International CooperationInternational Cooperation has traditionally been a eld that focuses on the relationships between nations. However, in our research eld students will learn to study international relations from a global perspective. Students will not only gain theoretical knowledge but also practical experience from the global community and engaging in interdisciplinary research on the international conditions nec-essary to achieve world peace, con ict reso-lution and peace building, and international cooperation.Global Civil SocietyStudents will examine the current situation of each country’s civil society from the legal, political, and cultural aspect. While consid-ering what would be the ideal system for civil society, students will engage in theoretical and practical research on popular opinion and the policy tools necessary for consensus building. In this way, students will be able to consider from a global perspective what 21st century civil society should be.Sustainable DevelopmentIn this research eld, students aim to resolve global issues from the standpoint of creating harmony between human economics, social activities and nature, and the environment. We will also train students to become experts who will promote theoretical, practical, and interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable development.Public and Social PolicyIn this field, students will conduct research on ideal policy formation for public domain and industrial organizations in contemporary society, as well as policy as a whole and con-crete policy tools. While having a rm grasp on the progression of globalization and the resulting changes in the economic, industrial, and social structure, students will also learn how to build and develop policy.Major in Global SocietyMajor in Policy Science7
