24Academic Life | GSICCSLibraries/Research Facilities The university provides 21 libraries, which include student study rooms and libraries exclusively for graduate students. These facilities hold over 5,920,000 books, including over two million books written in languages other than Japanese, and provide various support for extensive research.https://www.waseda.jp/library/en/Writing Center This center provides free tutoring and supports students in their academic writing. With an aim toward developing independent writers, tutors conduct one-on-one consultations and offer advice on writing reports, thesis papers, presentation drafts, etc. The service is offered in multiple languages. https://www.waseda.jp/inst/aw/enOther Languages A total of 27 languages can be learnt at Waseda University. Students may learn a foreign language to further deepen their research at GSICCS.Center for Japanese Language (CJL) This center provides Japanese language education for Waseda students and is one of the largest Japanese education centers in Japan. More than 300 courses are offered in eight levels, ranging from beginner to advanced. Besides basic language classes, thematic classes are also offered in order for students to have an opportunity to learn many different aspects of Japanese culture. ※Japanese courses are not included as the required course to obtain either Master’s or Doctoral degree at GSICCS. Students can choose from amongst more than 868 partner institutions worldwide.
