It has been selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) for its excellent world-class research and receives support from various public and private sources.Extensive research networkWaseda has academic exchange agreements with 860 institutions in 93 countries and regions around the world, and hosts over 1000 international researchers each year. It published joint papers with 1,981 institutions between 2016-2018 (SciVal).Proven track record and government collaborationIn the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020, Waseda University has 10 research areas in the global top 100. In the five broad subject groupings, Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences & Management are both very high (54 & 77, respectively). In addition, according to Education Ministry data for KAKENHI national funding grants, Waseda University is the top institution in 3 subjects centered on the humanities and social sciences.
