1. When you access Gmail, you received a notice "There are two existing Google Accounts for ~, Which account do you want to use?"

About conflicting accounts

A Google Account may be created using any standard email address that can receive mail.
Because of this, if you had a personal Google Account using your Waseda-net email address, you'll have the same address in both your personal and Waseda Mail Account, which creates a conflicting account.
When you next sign in to your personal Google Account, you'll be asked to resolve this conflicting account.

Resolve conflicting accounts
To resolve conflicting accounts, you have three options.
  1. Rename the Personal account to a new Gmail address.
  2. Rename the Personal account to a non-Gmail address that you already own (for example yahoo mail address).
  3. Sign in with a temporary username Google provides (xxx%[email protected]).
All conflicting accounts must be resolved. Therefore, if you choose the third option, which is only a temporary solution, you are prompted with these same options on every login, until you select the permanent solutions, the first or the second option.
In all cases, the data in your personal accounts remains safe and accessible.

 

How to Resolve conflicting accounts
Click "Individual Google Account", and sign into the account using the password of your Personal Google account.
Select the resolution option.
#When you click the "Do this later" button, you will chose the third option.

2. Will there be advertisements with Waseda Mail (Gmail)?
  Does Google scan my emails for advertising purposes?

Waseda Mail is based on Gmail for "G Suite for Education (Google Apps for Education)".
Ads are turned off in G Suite for Education (Google Apps for Education) services. G Suite for Education (Google Apps for Education) services don't collect or use emails data for advertising purposes or to create ads profiles.

3. Resolve the trouble between Waseda Mail (Gmail) account and personal Gmail account

I cannot send email as Waseda Mail address ([email protected]~.waseda.jp) via my personal Gmail account.

Generally Gmail lets you send messages with another of your email addresses listed as the sender instead of your Gmail address. But, you cannot send email as Waseda Mail address ([email protected]~.waseda.jp) via your personal Gmail account useing [Settings] > [Accounts and Import] > [Send mail as,] > [Add another email address]. Because this function does not support the OAuth2.0, the "smtp.gmail.com" for Waseda Mail (Gmail) can not be authenticated the combination of your Waseda ID and password.
To your personal Gmail account without adding the Waseda Mail address, please use to switch the account your personal Gmail and Waseda Mail (Gmail) using the "multi-account" sign in function.

In addition, any time you sign in to your Google Account, you'll stay signed in unless you specifically sign out. Therefore, it is possible that some of the trouble occurs between Waseda Mail (Gmail) and the personal Gmail account. Please refer to the following solutions.

Switch between accounts

If more than one Gmail account has been used in the "multi-account" function, in spite of the fact that access to the Waseda Mail from MyWaseda, your personal Gmail migth be displayed. Although different operations at the terminal device you are using, please try whether possible to switch account in reference to the following procedure.

On your computer
  1. On the top right, select your profile image or initial.
  2. On the menu, select the account you'd like to use.
On your tablet device
  1. On the bottom left, tap mail address.
  2. On the menu, select the account you'd like to use.

On your mobile device

  1. On the top left, tap menu.
  2. On the middle top of the screen, tap mail address.
  3. On the menu, select the account you'd like to use.

Sign out

If you do not resolve in the switching of account, log out from all accounts, please go to again Waseda Mail (Gmail) from MyWaseda. Although different operations at the terminal device you are using, there is a log out menu in the same location and switching menu of the account.

On your computer
  1. On the top right, select your profile image or initial.
  2. On the menu, choose [Sign out].
On your tablet device
  1. On the bottom left, tap mail address.
  2. On the menu, choose [Sign out].

On your mobile device

  1. On the top left, tap menu.
  2. On the middle top of the screen, tap mail address.
  3. On the menu, choose [Sign out].

Remove a Google account from "Choose an account" page list

If you do not resolve in the sign out all your Google accounts, remove a Google account from "Choose an account" page list, please go to again Waseda Mail (Gmail) from MyWaseda.
Account choosers remember the accounts you’ve signed in with on a particular device, allowing you to choose from a list the next time you sign in to Google.

On your computer /tablet device /moble device
  1. When sign in Google, "choose an accout" is displayed.
  2. Click [Remove] at the bottom of the account chooser.
  3. Click the [X] next to the account you'd like to remove from the list.

Clearing the temporary internet files and cookies

If you have occur trouble, clear the temporary internet files and cookies, please go to again Waseda Mail (Gmail) from MyWaseda.

4. Waseda Mail (Gmail) cliant settings can not be well. "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account" is displayed.

  1. Please check whether the Enable IMAP] is "ON " on settings of Waseda Mail (Gmail).
  2. Please check whether the password setting for Waseda Mail (Gmail) is blank.
  3. "IMAP" protocol may be blocked by the firewall software such as Windows Firewall on your PC. Disable to the firewall software , please check whether it is possible to IMAP connection.
  4. "IMAP" protocol may be blocked by the security software such as anti-virus software on your PC. Disable to the security software, please check whether it is possible to IMAP connection.

5. Waseda Mail (Gmail) cliant settings can not be well. Or Settings can be well but recive mail

  1. Please check whether the Enable IMAP] is "ON " on settings of Waseda Mail (Gmail).
  2. If you want to use a wireless LAN connection or eduroam, please connect at good condition.
  3. "IMAP" protocol may be blocked by the firewall software such as Windows Firewall on your PC. Disable to the firewall software , please check whether it is possible to IMAP connection.
  4. "IMAP" protocol may be blocked by the security software such as anti-virus software on your PC. Disable to the security software, please check whether it is possible to IMAP connection.

6. Waseda Mail (Gmail) is not available in certain countries or regions where access to Google services is restricted.

[For students]
  1. Access to Google services is restricted in certain countries or regions. Waseda Mail (Gmail) is available in these countries or regions via Off-Campus Access Using VPN.
  2. By using Waseda Mail (Office365), you will be able to send and receive messages with Waseda Mail address before you visit that areas.
[For alumni]
  1. By using Waseda Mail (Office365), you will be able to send and receive messages with Waseda Mail address.
