12 years have already passed since the Institute for Advanced Studies in Education, Waseda University was founded in September 1998, and indeed nearly 25 since the former Center for Advanced Studies in Education was founded in April 1986.
Over that quarter of a century, the institute has planned and implemented a number of programs that have been participated in by a great number of people from outside the university, while also having promoted a lot of individual projects. The institute has been supported by university-wide human knowledge as a university affiliated research institute, which can be understood by research activities and their results accumulated in publications such as "Institute Report," "Waseda Review of Education," and "Waseda Education Series." Especially, the educational roles that the institute's research committees, lectures, and symposia have fulfilled are immeasurable.
