Here is the digital pamphlet to overview dormitories.

*We are planning to hold an “Open House (tour)” for WISH at Waseda University’s Open Campus in August 2024.

  • For those who hold a university acceptance, you can apply for university-operated dormitories and university-affiliated dormitories through the following online form only once per person.
  • For those who have already enrolled, please contact the university-affiliated dormitory management company directly to inquire about room availability. Please note that you can apply for university-operated dormitories only prior to enrollment. Please refer to the brochure for details.
  • University-affiliated dormitories are student dormitories managed and operated by external companies or organizations. Waseda University has concluded an agreement for the operation of the dormitory and for the acceptance of Waseda University students.
    In the case of affiliated dormitories, the contract that defines the rights and obligations of the resident will be concluded between the resident and the dormitory management company, etc.
    Waseda University does not have the authority to be the subject of this occupancy agreement and does not act on behalf of the resident.
    Please carefully review the terms and conditions of the agreement.
    In addition to student dormitory contracts, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has issued a reminder (←Click here to view the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s website) regarding the lowering of the age of majority (18 y.o.).

Application Process

  1. You can apply for Waseda University directly managed dormitories, and affiliated dormitories after passing the entrance examination.
  2. Please check the following URL for the application process, schedule and necessary documents.

  3. Please send Online Request Form.
  4. After you submit the Online Request Form, you will get a Registration Number(Registration Number will be automatically sent via e-mail).
  5. Afterwards, please proceed the application process mentioned on 2.

*Web page of Online Request Form will be expired after a certain period of time. If you write essays, we recommend you to save your essay using MS Word or notepad temporarily.

The schedule of applying for April 2024 entry to student dormitories :

  • Students can apply for dormitories managed by or affiliated with Waseda University Residence Center after they have passed the entrance examination.
  • Application to Waseda University directly managed dormitories is only possible during the designated period before entering the university.
  • For Waseda University affiliated dormitories, students may apply for a room at each dormitory after enrollment, depending on the availability of rooms. However, prospective students who wish to secure a room before the date of admission to the University must apply in accordance with this application procedure.
  • The application period is as follows. Please note that you may only apply once before entering the dormitory.

[Period 2] 10:00 am January 11,2024 (Thu) – 16:00 January 31 (Wed) <JST>

The schedule of announcement of results for April 2024 entry to student dormitories:

  • The schedule for announcing the results of room availability in university-operated dormitories is as follows. Selection results will be sent to the applicant’s e-mail address. The university will send you the entrance documents on this date after the announcement of the results.

Result of the first period: After December 25, 2023 or later
Result of the 2nd period: After February 7, 2024 or later
Result of the 3rd period: March 8, 2024 or later

  • For university-affiliated dormitories, the result of room availability may be announced earlier than the above schedule. The results will be announced by the dormitory management company.
  • If you apply for the Waseda University directly managed dormitories as your first choice and the affiliated dormitory as your second or lower choice, it may take up to 7 business days after the above date for the announcement of the room assignment results for the second or lower choice.

*The designated date for students entering in April 2024 to move into directly managed dormitories will be below dates. Please note that the move-in date cannot be moved earlier.

  • Students can apply for dormitories managed or recommended by Waseda University Residence Center after they have passed the entrance examination.
  • Application to Waseda University directly managed dormitories is only possible during the designated period before entering the university.
  • For Waseda University affiliated dormitories, students may apply for a room at each dormitory after enrollment, depending on the availability of rooms. However, prospective students who wish to secure a room before the date of admission to the University must apply in accordance with this application procedure.

  • The schedule for announcing the results of room availability in university-operated dormitories is as follows. The results will be announced on the Residence Life Center website.

 Early August 2024 (scheduled)

  • For university-affiliated dormitories, the result of room availability may be announced earlier than the above schedule. The results will be announced by the dormitory management company.
  • If you apply for the Waseda University directly managed dormitories as your first choice and the affiliated dormitory as your second or lower choice, it may take up to 7 business days after the above date for the announcement of the room assignment results for the second or lower choice.

*The designated date for students entering in Sep 2024 to move into directly managed dormitories will be a weekday around the mid-September. Please note that the move-in date cannot be moved earlier.

For the applicants of student dormitories operated by Waseda University

We recommend preparing the followings before you apply.

  • Amount of Total Gross Income (yearly) by the earners of your household
  • Please describe what you accomplished as a member of a group or a team in school activity, social activity, field work, sports activity..etc.. and what was your role as the member in that group or team?(Limit: 250 words)
    *If you are applying to Undergraduate program, please answer the above question with your high school experience. If you are applying to graduate school, please answer above question with your undergraduate experience.
  • Please describe what kind of person you would like to be after you graduate from the university. (Limit: 250 words)

The following question is ONLY for the applicants of WISH

  • Please describe your willingness to participate in SI programs. Please refer to the brochure, “Waseda University Student Dormitories” or website.(Limit: 250 words)

Dormitory Entrance Documents

If you are accepted into the university-operated dormitory, you will be required to sign a dormitory agreement according to the following schedule.
As part of the contract to enter the dormitory, you will be required to transfer 4-5 months’ dormitory fees, deposit, and other initial expenses. Please prepare in advance.

April enrollment

【Period 1&2】The university will send a set of contract documents via E-mail on February 8, 2024 (Thu).

Return deadline: February 26 (Mon.) *Changed from the date listed on p. 58 of ” Student Dormitories 2024″ as of 1/25/2024.

【Period 3】The university will send a set of contract documents via E-mail on March 8, 2024 (Fri.).

Return deadline: Mid-March  (tentative)

September enrollment

The university will send a set of contract documents via E-mail around  Mid-July 2024.

Return deadline: End of August (tentative)

 

*For affiliated dormitories, each management company will inform you of the contract.

Residence Life Center is a department that plans management policies for student dormitories, and provides services for students regarding dormitories.
