Waseda University is offering a six-part open online course conducted in English and
available around the world, entitled “Tsunamis and Storm Surges:
Introduction to Coastal Disasters”.
This Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is now available on the edX platform and open
to university students, high school students and others around the world.
The course introduces current coastal disaster research and damage mitigation
engineering to young people in order to raise awareness and share scientific
analysis of disasters such as the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake,
the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, and the 2013 Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
