October 16, 2007
Actor Jun Sawaki holds musical workshop @ the ICC!

For the first time ever, this year the ICC has initiated a "long term project" in the form of a musical production of the hit FAME! A group of around 100 participants are currently working hard at putting together this spectacular event, aiming for a level of cross-cultural exchange between international and local students that isn't always possible with short term, one-shot events.

Well known Waseda alumnus and musical actor Jun Sawaki, who gave an outstanding performance of the solo musical "YAKUMO" at the Okuma Auditorium as part of the Waseda 125th Anniversary celebrations, kindly offered to hold a workshop at the ICC for the performers of the ICC's production of FAME!

In two short hours, Mr. Sawaki shared his wealth of experience and know-how with the FAME performers, which enabled them to not only improve their acting and singing skills, but also provide inspiration in order to tackle their individual roles and tasks. During the vocal practice session towards the end of the workshop, the performers sung with a passion that surpassed all other practice sessions.

Drawing on all that they learnt during Mr. Sawaki's first, and subsequent workshop, the cast and crew of FAME have progressed in leaps and bounds, and are looking forward to giving it their all during the actual performance. Two performances of FAME are planned - one in Japanese and the other in English – complete with a double cast. The Japanese performance is scheduled for Monday, December 17th; with the English performance on the following night, Tuesday, December 18th. Both performances will be held at the Okuma Auditorium. We hope to see you all there!
