Inter-campus Exchange - 1st Event
"Softball Game@Tokorozawa"

As ICC's first event of the Inter-campus Exchange Project, a special team of players from across different campuses and schools of Waseda was gathered to participate in the annual Softball Competition held by the School of Human Sciences and the School of Sports Sciences at Tokorozawa Campus.
The players assembled at the Koyubisashi Station and rode the school bus to Tokorozawa known for its verdant field and spacious campus. The Pegasus statue and lush lawn stretching against the azure sky welcomed them. Most players recognized one another from the preliminary meeting at ICC, nevertheless some first-time players began with self-introduction to get acquainted with their teammates. Soon everyone was warming up for the game by playing catch. The ICC team members carried out their defense and offense with such a coordinated spirit that it was difficult to believe this is only a team built from scratch. They won a sweeping victory gaining 13 scores to 3 including two homeruns although the team lost however they tried during the second round playing against the veteran team. Shooting group photos and handshaking with one other after the game, it has been a heyday for fun sport and hearty exchange.
The get-together organized by the Softball Section after the game was crowded with the players relieshing the convivial gathering. It was a valuable experience for students from different campuses and fields who do not usually have the chance to meet to befriend with each other, and broaden their knowledge and perspectives through cross-cultural exchange in one way or another.
To enjoy the verdant yet less-traveled-to Tokorozawa campus and the refreshing workout, plus mutual communication with other students made the day for all of the players!
Voices of Participants:
"Feels fresh to do sports under the unclouded sky!"
"I was able to deepen the communication through sports as I have little chance to meet international students."
"It is very different from main campus here, with soothing nature around."
"First time in so long to have some good sweat!"
