Education and Welfare in the Nordic Region

 

Norway has been built a comprehensive measures to promote gender equality. One of the unique system is maternity/paternity leave which enables both mothers and fathers to balance family life and work. Talk will include the speaker's experience as a father of 2 children, recent development about female representation at company board rooms, and some general considerations about the Norwegain welfare state model.

Finland, the closest European country from Japan, is well known for Nokia, and its modern, stylish designs. However in recent years, its prominent education system has been in the spotlight. What kind of country is Finland? Ms. Takase’s talk will be mainly about the education system and the people’s thoughts on education. Also, she will be sharing some basic knowledge of Finland and its lingual
environment and society.
