Join us at the ICC's Japanese Festival (held biannually), where new and existing students of Waseda are given the chance to make new international and local friends, while learning more about Japanese culture at the same time! A variety of interesting events are on offer; please check out individual pages below for further details. We look forward to seeing you there!

 

Event Schedule

* All events listed below are for all Waseda Students, faculty & staff Members. Registration is not required and events are free of charge. Unless otherwise stated, the event venue is 1st fl. Bldg. 25.

“Baba Walk” Cafe

April 2nd, 3:00 - 5:00 pm

 

During this casual cafe, chat over free drinks and snacks while taking part in a fun detective game planned by fellow students, browse the magazine corner to find out more about the latest Japanese trends, and learn where all the popular Waseda restaurants and bars are located!


 

Japanese Drum Live!

April 3rd, 3:00 - 4:30 pm


Don’t miss this chance to view a modern Japanese drumming performance from drumming group TAWOO! There will also be an opportunity for participants to try out the drumming for themselves. Don’t forget to bring your camera!


 

 

Playing IGO!!

April 7th, 5:00 - 7:00 pm


Igo (or “Go”) is a strategic board game that originated in China, and is now played throughout East Asia. Learn how to play this engrossing game together with Waseda students and alumni.
Meeting time & place : 4:30pm at the ICC Office (1st fl., Bldg.7)
Place we will be playing: Takadanobaba IGO Club
.


 

 

Yukata & Tea Ceremony

April 8th, 4:30 - 6:30 pm

 

During this event, participants will be given the chance to try on Japanese “Yukata” (summer garment) and experience “Sado” (traditional tea ceremony). A great introduction to the world of traditional Japanese culture!


 

 

KYUSHU Travel Plan Competition

April 9th, 2:45 - 4:30 pm


Take a trip to the sunny south and experience a different side of Japan! Learn more about Kyushu culture with a fun quiz, plan your own unique Kyushu travel plan in groups and win great prizes! Free “Hyuga Natsu” fruit for participants!! (limited availability)
