Yukata & Straw sandals Workshop
Yukata is an informal cotton kimono, which is comfortable to wear especially on hot summer days, and refreshingly cool to look at. Many people in yukata are seen at summer festivals and firework festivals.
浴衣とは綿素材の普段着としての着物です。夏の暑い日における着心地は格別で、見る側も爽やかさや涼しさを感じることが出来る浴衣。今では夏祭りや花火大会で浴衣を着た人を大勢見かけます。
Why not try on a yukata for yourself? Members from a kimono club here at Waseda will show you step by step how to wear yukata. You can even take commemorative pictures wearing the yukata in front of the beautiful Okuma Garden. Girls and guys yukata available!
着物着付けサークルの皆さんが着付け方を丁寧に教えてくれます。大隈庭園をバックに浴衣姿の写真を撮りませんか？ 男性も歓迎です！
For those who want to try on Yukata, please wear a light colored shirt (dark colored shirts will show through the neck of the Yukata).
着付け希望者は白いＴシャツ（もしくはキャミソール）を着用してきてください。

Japanese straw sandals, which are called ‘Waraji’ in Japanese, are traditional sandals made of the stems from harvested rice plants that have been cut and dried.
わらじとは収穫された稲を乾燥させた茎を材料として作られた日本の 伝統的な履物です。
Try making straw sandals for yourself! This is a very rare opportunity, one that even most local students probably have never had! A professional instructor will give you all the advice you need.
日本の学生でさえなかなか体験機会のないわらじ作り。先生のご指導のもと、簡単に楽しく取り組めます。 この機会をお見逃しなく！

Place: International Community Center (ICC), 1st fl. Okuma Garden House (Bldg. 25)

Eligibility: All Waseda internatinal students (Capacity: 30)
Registration: If you want to participate in the straw sandals workshop, please send an e-
mail to Japanese-festa@list.waseda.jp, indicating ‘straw sandles workshop’ in the title, with
your full name, affiliation at Waseda (undergraduate/ postgraduate), and student ID number.
