Glee Club Special Concert @ICC
in commemoration of the Japan-Brazil Exchange Year
From Japan to Brazil to the ICC Lounge! 2008 has been deemed “Japan-Brazil exchange year”, and in commemoration Waseda University’s famous “Glee Club” embarked on a special tour of Brazil. Now back in Japan, “Glee” will be making a special performance at the ICC, including a report of their tour to Brazil. Celebrate Japanese and Brazilian exchange, together with “Glee” and the ICC!
No ano em que o intercâmbio Brasil-Japão comemora seus 100 anos, o canto do Waseda Glee Club ecoou pelo Brasil. A voz que tocou os corações brasileiros agora ressoa no lounge do ICC. Seja bem vindo a uma noite de música e relatos sobre a viagem do coral ao Brasil!
Waseda University Glee Club was established in 1907, for the purpose of performing the Waseda University school song. Since then it has grown in size to the current largest male chorus student club in Japan. Apart from their quarterly concerts, Waseda Glee perform at a variety of events including Waseda entrance ceremonies, Sou-kei-sen, and the 100 km hike. Last year, well-known musician Kazumasa Oda was a special guest for their 100th anniversary concert and this year, Glee made a special tour of Brazil to commemorate 100 years of Japanese immigration to Brazil. Waseda University Glee Club is one of the most active student clubs at Waseda.
Waseda Glee club nasceu em 1907 com o objetivo de cantar o hino da Universidade. Hoje é considerado o maior coral masculino do país. Além de quatro concertos oficiais por ano, o coral ainda se apresenta nas cerimômias de ingresso, em jogos de Baseball, maratonas e outros eventos da faculdade. Em comemoração dos seus 100 anos de existência o coral contou com a participação do cantor Oda Kazumasa. Em seu 101º ano o coral fez uma bem sucedida viagem ao Brasil para participar das comemorações do centenário da imigração japonesa ao Brasil. |
