Looking for participants for the ICC's "Outreach Program"
To all International Students
"Outreach" - a new program from the International Community Center (ICC)
Have you ever got the feeling that your home country's culture is often misunderstood in Japan? Have you ever been surprised at cultural stereotypes and misconceptions?
The ICC's "Outreach Program" involves international students such as yourself, local students, and local schools. The purpose of the program is to promote international exchange and cultural awareness throughout elementary, junior and high schools around Tokyo.
As a guest speaker, you will be given the chance to discuss your country's
culture and society with students, and share your opinions. Students will
not only learn more about your home country, but also be given the chance
to think objectively about the world around them.
Through interacting with a generation of children that you may not usually
have the chance to meet, there is a good chance that you will discover new
things about Japan that you previously never noticed.
"I'm interested in participating, but I don't know if my Japanese is good
enough..."
To assist with any possible language barriers, local students will also
attend each visit and interpret when necessary. Depending on the age of
the student audience, the content and style of each visit will vary, however
content will be decided after discussions with the school in question,
and preparations made as a team together with local students.
We are currently looking for international students interested in
participating in the Outreach Program for February and March. Transport costs
to each school will be provided, and with elementary and junior high school
visits you may even have the chance to experience a typical school lunch
with the students.
The Outreach Program provides participants with the rare opportunity to see the
inside workings of real Japanese schools, and also make a positive impact on the
way Japanese students view the world. Interested parties please register using

Registration Period: Jan 16th (wed) - 23rd (wed)
11:00am - 7:00pm on weekdays
10:00am - 6:00pm on Saturday
