Japanese Festival 2008 Spring
Attention new Waseda students!
The ICC holds "Japanese Festival" twice a year, to welcome new international students. Japanese culture is introduced through a variety of fun events and activities, as well as helpful info sessions to help you get the most out of your time at Waseda, and in Japan. Of course, all students regardless of when they arrived at Waseda are invited to most events and activities, so you're bound to make many new friends and contacts. Learn about Waseda from local students through quizzes and games! Also, get tips and advice about life in Japan from other international students! Free drinks and Japanese snacks will be served.

～Photography Workshop ～
【April 4th (fri): 1:00 - 4:00 pm.@ ICC】
Get hints & tips on how to improve your photography skills! After going out to take photos of the beautiful spring scenery, we will be having a photo sharing session at the ICC.

★ZEN @ Samurai town: KAMAKURA
～The DAIBUTSU is waiting for you! ～
【April 7th (mon): 9:00 am. – 5:00 pm. @ Kamakura】
Experience “Zazen”, the practice of Buddhist spiritual meditation. We will be going to “Kamakura”, a historic town of samurai, and enjoying “Shojin Ryori (Buddhist cuisine) for lunch. In the afternoon, freely explore the town, guided by Waseda students!

★The World of Japanese Dance!
～Traditional Japanese Art and Music ～
【April 11th (fri): 5:00 – 7:00 pm. @ ICC】
Watch a graceful “Nihon-buyo” (classical Japanese dance) performance by dancers in kimono, and if you like, you can even try for yourself! There will also be a “Samisen” (traditional Japanese instrument) performance during this event.
★ Sumi-e Ink Painting
～Make your very own postcard ～
【April 12th (sat): 2:00 – 4:00 pm @ ICC】
Interested in Japanese calligraphy or painting? Learn “Sumi-e”, a Japanese style art using ink and a writing-brush. We will be making postcards which you can send to family and friends.
