The most remarkable aspect of education in universities is “academic freedom.” Since the Korean education system does not allow students to study what they want, I did not have enough time to do what I wanted. After joining Waseda University, I am really enjoying my campus life.
Since I have been interested in languages and cross-cultural communication from an early age, I am operating various activities related to them including club activities and multilingual communication activities. After joining the English-speaking club in Waseda Campus in the freshman year, I have participated in the club activities every week.
It is exciting to talk with people who have the same interests as me, and to make friends from abroad. These activities are so meaningful for me. I also joined the group of natural learning of multiple languages, and have a chance to speak in various languages every week. The purpose of this club is to master languages naturally instead of class learning, so this is very enjoyable.
I also do some part-time work when I have no class. The main purpose is to earn pocket money, but I am trying to save money to travel overseas. My job is to grade math examinations. Every person on the staff is kind to me, and I have many student friends who are doing similar jobs there.
I entered Waseda University because I love its free and international school spirit. Furthermore, the classes are so fruitful and its learning environment helps me do what I want. I am satisfied with my campus life in Waseda University. There are lots of things that only university students are allowed to do, so I will take full advantage of the opportunities that Waseda University gives me to enjoy my student life.
