| Impressions of Shinohara Zemi: |
I have studied in Waseda from 2003-2005, under the guidance of Professor Shinohara. The most impressive things are Professor's insights, prudent attitude, and professional knowledge on the field of international relations. I am also grateful to Prof. Shinohara's patience and encouragement to help me find a topic I truly like. Though I have not finished the paper yet, I learnt a lot on the seminars of professor Shinohara, including how to work a qualified paper, how to organize the content, how to prove your opinion, and how to better structure the article, etc. I still remember very well that Prof Shinohara talked with me about my career, my future and my paper before I returned to China. I also thanks for the help from the other students on Prof's seminar for my research and my study life. Wherever I am, and whichever career I am working on, I appreciate the studying period on Prof. Shinohara's seminar. |

Professor Shinohara's seminar was an essential time in my academic development. It was there that I learned to analyze arguments in a more rigorous way - to see more clearly the foundations of ideas and test their strength. Sometimes constructive, sometimes conflictual, the seminars were always interesting, and remain an indispensable part of my professional training. |

| Impressions of Shinohara Zemi: |
A constructive, at times combative learning environment in which students are constantly challenged to present, logical, coherent work related to their research. I would add that Professor Shinohara's supervision style focuses on scholarly independence and the successful completion of original, personal dissertations. |

| Impressions of Shinohara Zemi: |
I was lucky to be a member of Professor Shinohara's seminar. Her seminar is a place of free discussions, flow of ideas and at the same time a source of inspiration to write better and scholarly. Sometimes the comments of my colleagues could drive me crazy but I am still very grateful to all of them for their sincerity and thoughtfulness they attached to what I was doing. I miss this atmosphere very much. |
