<Abstract>
Asia is entering a new age in which people should seek for new regional governance and autonomy beyond nation-state interests. In the midst of the social, political, and economic transformations across Asia, ASEAN countries are attempting to take a transnational approach to embrace a more harmonious coexistence.Through this international symposium, we hope to create a space for positive dialogue among ASEAN and East Asia countries, and to encourage a continuing dialogue that will be carried on by the next generation of scholars and leaders. The symposium will consist of two parts. In the morning we will invite Professor Dr. Komaruddin Hidayat, the Rector of Jakarta Islamic State University in Indonesia to deliver the Keynote Speech. Professor Hidayat is a well-known and world-renowned Muslim scholar and intellectual who works on issues of cultural pluralism and inter-religious dialogue, and his Keynote Speech will address the importance of cultivating the next generation of human resources by facilitating communication based on respect for diversity.In the afternoon, we will have two workshop sessions, where distinguished scholars from ASEAN and East Asian countries will discuss key themes for building cooperation and friendship in Asia, including issues such as transnational civil society and soft power diplomacy. The Campus Asia-EAUI Program aims to cultivate the next generation of leaders, scholars, and professionals who will be armed with a high level of expertise and a deep understanding of the diversity in Asia.
