Event Summary:
Prior to joining the faculty at Johns Hopkins, he was Professor of Politics at Pomona College in Claremont, CA. His Area of interest is East Asian politics, Political economy, and international relations with special focus on China and Japan. UC Berkley Ph.D., Political Science,1989 ; Johns Hopkins SAIS M.A.,1982; Cornell U.A.B., 1977. He has produced four books, of which the last (co-edited with Tsuneo Akaha), The US-Japan Alliance: Balancing Soft and Hard Power( Nissan Institute & Rutledge, 2010) won the Ohira Foundation Special prize in 2011 for work advancing the idea of Pacific Community.
