Guidance

GSAPS Campus Asia-EAUI Program provides the opportunity for students to study in the partner universities as the exchange program. Application procedures and general information about the semester exchange program will be given at the guidance.

Subsidy:A round-trip flight ticket between Tokyo and Seoul will be provided by Waseda University
Japanese citizens and permanent residents are eligible for the application for the monthly scholarship (70,000JPY/month) provided by JASSO ※.

Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)

Thammasat University (Thailand)

Eligibility:Graduate Students enrolled in a regular degree program at Waseda University
Period:Late August 2013~Mid-December 2013
(The semester starts on Aug 31 and the exam week ends on Dec 15)
Subsidy:A round-trip flight ticket between Tokyo and Bangkok will be provided by Waseda University
Japanese citizens and permanent residents are eligible for the application for the monthly scholarship (70,000JPY/month) provided by JASSO ※

    JASSO will screen scholarship recipients by their academic grade, the amount of other scholarship they receive for this exchange program, and household income level (The income of the student him/herself and his/her spouse). Recipients of JASSO category 1 and category 2 loans will be required to stop their loan program while they receive this scholarship for the exchange program.

<Application Procedure I>

1. Pick up the designated application form at the GSAPS Campus Asia-EAUI Program office
(Hereinafter, The CA Office) or download the form.

2. Submit all required documents below.

(1) The designated application form (Typing only)
(2) Essay (Typing only, no specific format)
Please describe the motive and objectives of your study through semester exchange program by the GSAPS Campus Asia-EAUI Program. (Within 400 words in English or 1000 characters in Japanese)
(3) A photocopy of certificate of a Language Proficiency Test
Refer to the Remarks for the information about target score.
(4) Grade Report (photocopy is accepted)/Official Transcript with GPA(Original)


*Students enrolled in April 2013 need not submit Grade Report.
*Please request at the school office regarding issuing Grade Report.
*Please submit Official Transcript with GPA if you cannot be issued Grade Report.

3. Application Period
Period: April 1st (Mon.) - April 15th (Mon.) 17:00 (Deadline)
Submit to: The GSAPS Campus Asia-EAUI Program Office (7th floor, Building 19)
Office hours : Monday-Friday, 9:00-17:00

4. Application documents will be reviewed by GSAPS Campus Asia-EAUI Program (Applicants may be invited for an interview if necessary.)

5. Screening result will be sent to Waseda e-mail account after April 18th from the CA office.
→ONLY Those who have passed the first screening will proceed to the procedure II.

For those who pass the first screening, follow the next procedure<Procedure Ⅱ>.

NOTICE!! Some application documents of each university take time to prepare, such as recommendation letter from your professor. Please make sure what to prepare in advance to meet the due date.

<Procedure II>

  • 1. Complete the designated application documents for each university and bring them to the CA office by the due date below.

    2. The application documents will be sent from the CA office and will be reviewed at each university.

  • 3. Once Waseda receives the result from each university, the final result will be e-mailed from the CA office to each student.

    4. The procedures to follow will be informed individually.

<Remarks>

  1. You cannot apply for other exchange program provided such as the one by Center for International Education (CIE). However, you may apply for more than two schools under the Campus Asia-EAUI Program scheme.
  2. Recipients of the following scholarships (full coverage) are not allowed to apply.
    MEXT(Ministry of Education) JICE/JICA, World Bank, IMF, Overseas Governments
  3. If you receive scholarships from other institutions, please make sure whether you are allowed to apply for study abroad programs. It is your responsibility to confirm that, and Waseda University assumes no responsibility whatsoever for any troubles resulting from your application for this exchange program.
  4. Adequate English score to have is as follows.(TOEFL iBT:80, PBT:550/IELTS:6.0) You must submit a certificate of English score as one of the application materials. If you don’t have any, it is strongly recommended to take TOEFL iBT in advance.  It is also possible to take courses in Mandarin Chinese at Nanyang Technological University and Peking University, in Korean at Korea University, and in Thai courses at Thammasat University.  In any case, you must prove that your language proficiency is high enough to attend the classes by submitting essay and/or taking interview, according to the requirements from each university. Contact to the CA Office for more details if you consider taking courses provided in the local language.
  5. Make sure the eligibility prior to the submission at the CA Office individually for the following case. (e.g., Thai students apply for Thammasat University.)
  6. English native speakers are not required to submit any certificate for English proficiency.
  7. In principle, master course students are required to take one course provided by the partner school. If you wish to take courses taught by other schools in addition, you need to let the CA office know your plan. It is totally up to each school and Waseda cannot guarantee you take the courses as you wish to.
  8. Doctoral students do research under the supervisor. Please write the name of professor you would like to be supervised by on the application form.
  9. GSAPS students are required to transfer the credit (at least for one course) earned at the partner school with necessary application procedure and the approval by the GSAPS faculty. The credits shall be counted as GSAPS required credits as long as the total number of credits you earned in other institutions is less than 10.
  10. Those who belong to schools other than GSAPS MUST make sure the regulation of each school and procedures to apply for the credit transfer.
  11. All participants have to be insured by the designated traveler’s insurance company. The insurance cost will be borne by each student. The instructions will be given to the participants.
  12. Participants will be required to submit a report (2-3 pages, A4 sized) and to fill out the questionnaire. The details will be announced later. Moreover, participants might be asked to do a presentation about your experience at each school for the upcoming orientation for the Campus Asia-EAUI Program.
  13. For those who apply for Nanyang Technological University, Peking University and Thammasat University: Local Waseda Office will strengthen and support your student life.
