The Graduate School of Law has research and education programs, related programs called “Global COE Program” and “Organizational Reform Promotion Program for Graduate School Educations” providing cross sectional study. In addition, our Graduate School is developing legal studies in cooperation with the Institute of Comparative Law, Waseda Law School, and the Center for Professional Legal Education and Research.

Global COE program “Waseda Institute for Corporate Law and Society”
The institute is a center of research activity, with the objective of re-construction of corporate law integrated with the establishment of a mature civil society.
The site has the Corporate Law and Finance Capital Law Research Center, the heart of the institute, and cross sectional study of various law fields is actively promoted there. The Intellectual Property Law Research Center manages the database of international legal precedent related to intellectual property and conducts studies about intellectual property law, and the Corporation/Account System Research Center manages research activity about relations between law and management, accounts, and auditing individually.
The GCOE program plays a role as a representative Japanese think-tank, in cooperation with the Chinese state organization (the Legislative Affairs Commission of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China), NIRA, Cabinet Office, the Tokyo Stock Exchange, top courts of Asian countries, RIETI, Oxford University, and other international organizations.

Institute of Comparative Law
The institute contributes to research and education about the Japanese legal system and law through comparative studies between Japanese law and laws in foreign countries, and plays a role as an international base for the transmission of information about Japanese law.

Center for Professional Legal Education and Research
“Waseda University Center for Professional Legal Education and Research (CPLER)” is a center of theoretical and applied research related to ideal professional law education at the Waseda Law School. Many legal professionals who are graduates of Waseda University join the center’s activities. In addition, it provides a wide variety of continuing education and training for legal professionals in order to conduct excellent legal practices, and contributes to the development of a society based on the “rule of law” concept.
