Financial Support for Junior Researchers The following programs provide financial support for researchers at the doctoral and postdoctoral level. * COE Research Associateships 4 each in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006; 6 in 2007 * Publication Grants for Junior Researchers Up to 2 each year, with a maximum limit of 1million yen; 1 in 2004 and 2006, 2 projected for 2007 * International Exchange Program for Junior Researchers 41 participants in 2003, 7 participants in 2004, 7 participants in 2005, 5 participants in 2006, 6 participants in 2007 * Overseas Seminar Grants 2 in 2004, 2 in 2005, 3 in 2006, 4 in 2007 * Overseas Research, Survey, and Presentation Grants for Junior Researchers 4 in 2003, 18 in 2004, 20 in 2005, 7 in 2006, 5 projected for 2007 * 21st-Century COE Junior Research Fellowships 1 in 2004, 2 in 2005, 3 in 2006, 2 projected for 2007 * Other Support Research grants for junior scholars; graduate student research assistantships (approximately 20 each year); sponsorship of joint international workshops; funding of lunchtime seminars for junior researchers
