Honorary Doctorate Degree presented to Mr. Horst Albach
- On October 3, 2005 at the Waseda University International Conference Hall, Mr. Horst Albach, of the Koblenz Business School, was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree. (“What is an Honorary Doctorate Degree?”(Japanese Only)) The presentation ceremony was attended by students and faculty of Waseda and carried out in grand style. Mr. Albach’s honors and accomplishments are given below.

Born 1931. 74 years of age. Business Scholar. Served as a member of many government Advisory Committees including the Commonwealth Ministry of Economy and Public Works and Services.
1978-1983 worked as a government economic advisory committee member, and made significant contributions to policy making for economic building. He also worked as a government advisory committee member towards the establishment of a privatization plan at the time of Germany’s National Railroad Reform.His ideas and policies regarding the market economy and the role of the public sector contributed significantly to subsequent systems of privatization and to the market economy and new economic foundations of the eastern regions after the reunification of East and West Germany.
His academic achievements and contributions to economic society were highly regarded, and he was elected chairman for the Berlin Academy from 1987 to 1990.In 2000 he became a member of the Pour le Mérite Academy of Science and the Arts and is currently Chairman.
