Introduction to DLC
The Distance Learning Center (DLC) at Waseda University was founded in April 2002 to establish multimedia network-based distance learning as a new style of education, as well as to support and promote the development of distance learning programs to respond to the increasingly diverse needs of students, some of whom are mature students.

At present, the DLC mainly performs the following tasks:
  1. Provision of support for the implementation and enhancement of on-demand lectures
    • Creation of content for on-demand lectures
    • Copyright processing associated with the creation of lecture content and copyright management for completed content
    • Provision of support for the implementation of on-demand lectures and reporting of results
  2. Provision of support for the implementation and enhancement of joint classes with overseas universities (CCDL classes/cyber seminars)
    • Provision of support for the utilization of teleconferencing and web conferencing systems
    • Provision of support for the planning and implementation of joint classes with overseas universities (CCDL classes/cyber seminars)
    • Planning and implementation of study tours linked to joint classes with overseas universities
  3. Other
    • Provision of on-demand preparatory and introductory educational programs (pre-university education)
    • Provision of on-demand lifelong and recurring educational programs
    • Provision of on-demand certification preparatory courses
    • Study of distance learning methods for new locations and so on
