A 35-member mission from Hanyang Cyber University, including Professor Hyoung Do Kim and Professor Eun Mee Lee, visited the DLC on July 4, 2008, to participate in training on the operation and management of distance learning, as well as to take part in training on globalization together with Waseda University students.
The DLC gave the members of the mission an outline of distance learning programs provided by Waseda University and explained to them the university's related initiatives, such as on-demand lectures, CCDL classes and OCW. It also gave them a tour of a studio where the content of lectures is actually recorded, followed by an enthusiastic question and answer session with the student members of the mission. |

The Korean Cyber University Council, which is planning to draw up a bill concerning cyber universities in South Korea, visited Waseda University on June 27, 2008, to participate in training related to the operating conditions of cyber universities and e-learning centers in Japan.
The Associate Director of the Distance Learning Center, Kogo, gave an outline of and explained the operating conditions regarding e-learning in Waseda University and the Associate Dean of Distance Education Program, Matsui, introduced E-School, a distance education program provided by the School of Human Sciences at Waseda University, to the 14-member mission from the Council, including Professor Yeun Chul Baek. Professor Baek then talked about the realities of e-learning in South Korea, and an intense discussion was held, particularly on the current situation reflecting changes in the legal framework affecting the standards for the establishment of cyber universities. There was a very productive exchange of opinions regarding what cyber universities and distance learning should be like in the two countries. |

Dr. Flora Chang, the President of Tamkang University, visited Waseda University on June 10, 2008, on the introduction of Dr. Chao-kang Feng, Visiting Researcher, Waseda University, and had a friendly talk with the Director of the Distance Learning Center.
During the talk, the Director of Distance Learning Center, Nakano, explained about the CCDL (Cross-Cultural Distance Learning) classes provided by Waseda University to Dr. Chang and they had a very productive exchange of opinions concerning future interaction and cooperation between the two universities. |
