From Waseda University’s Aizu Museum: May 13, 2015
The Aizu Museum is hosting a special exhibition titled “Works from Niigata.”
The Yaichi Aizu Collection hosts many paintings and writings of calligraphy from Niigata Prefecture.
This exhibition includes works from painter Igarashi Shunmei, who was from the old Echigo Province (now part of Niigata Prefecture), Aigai Takaku, who traveled Echigo province, and from scholar Hokuzan Yamamoto, who wrote words of advice to Masanori Sakakibara, the daimyo of the Takada domain. Although not part of the Yaichi Aizu Collection, works from painter Ransai Mori, who was from Echigo Province and studied under Agarashi Shunmei are also on display courtesy of the Tekisendo Collection. The works are presented with notes written by Yaichi Aizu.
The exhibition is on display in the permanent exhibition room on the second floor of the Aizu Museum. Please visit!
