| Waseda University was founded with a vision that is timeless. Hence, building on Shigenobu Okuma's three founding principles, the university has committed itself to the objective of "Symbiotic Creation of Knowledge". Concretely, this objective relates to the collaboration of governments, organizations and universities, etc. to create and share knowledge in order to create peaceful and affluent societies in the 21st century. With our existing strengths in Asia, we are committed, from a strategic standpoint, to solidifying our position as an active contributor in research and education. This parallels the increasing relocation of manufacturing facilities from Japan to other Asian countries. Furthermore, extended educational activities in Asia could positively impact the future of Japan - a country that needs to shift its focus from manufacturing hardware to developing software. |
