On th e 125th year anniversary of Waseda University, we are compelled to reflect upon the original visions of its founder Shigenobu Okuma, who called for harmony between Eastern and Western civilizations. In the spirit of Shigenobu Okuma's vision, Waseda University, has pursued a three-fold policy of what we have come to refer to as the "Glocal" University(a term formed by the combination of 'global'and 'local'), to further the concept of positive change and development in the university system through co-existence with the Asia-Pacific region, communication through media networks and lifelong education. A critical part of realizing this three-fold policy is promoting innovative and independent research with a host of different research institutes, collaborative short-term and long-research projects and the establishment of ultra-modern resarch centers, equipped with the most sophisticated analytical equipment. Moreover, Waseda prides itself on its computer facilties that allow students to access research material from around the country and the world. This access to material is completed by Waseda's extensive network partnership between other universities and educational institutions, government organizations and the private sector.
